However great the season, a bit of sadness always comes with the final race of another Grand Prix year. And so it is with 2014. Though the real racing went down to the wire with Lewis Hamilton deservedly taking his second World Driver’s Title, the F1B Staff World Championship was settled following the penultimate round as Johnpierre put a stomping on the rest of his staff counterparts. At the end of the 2013 staff series, Grace beat Tony by a mere twelve points.
This year, JP was a massive forty points clear of his nearest rival. The Top Four were separated by less than that amount a year ago! So, once again, many congratulations to our latest champion and, please, don’t hurt us so bad come 2015! JP only solidified his title in Abu Dhabi by correctly choosing Hamilton for the win and Bottas for the third step of the podium. Series runner up Mark scored the same points to maintain his position at year’s end.
Tom also picked up those same thirteen points, but it was not quite enough to move him up to seventh spot. By picking LewHam for the win, Andrew was able to move past Tony to take a solid third spot, moving him up a position from his fourth place finish last year. Laura not only correctly chose Lewis, but also Button for fifth, moving her up two positions into a tie with Tony for fourth position. After a strong run during recent rounds, Todd went scoreless this weekend, which dropped him back to sixth.
The remaining staffers picked up some points here and there, but all remained in the positions they were in following Brazil. So now as we sit and wait the long, hard wait that is winter, we here at F1B look forward to another year of racing on the track and another year of good natured ribbing here at the world’s greatest racing blog. See you next year!
