After a five race span in which she picked the winning driver in every round and took a commanding lead in the F1B Staff Championship, Grace gave the rest of us a break in Great Britain and Germany by only taking the two Kiss of Death points for Massa as the First Out in the last race. But with none of her competitors making any real inroads into her lead, Grace apparently used her time off to steal blueprints from McLaren, have a secret test with Pirelli at Ferrari’s personal test track and return in Hungary to beat the living life out of the rest of us. The Magic Eight Ball strikes again! Shake, shake, shake….twenty-two points for the Top Four places and now a ginormous THIRTY-THREE point lead over second place.
We’re all going to need this coming summer vacation. Hungary, however, was not a total waste for the remainder of the staff, as the latest GP was one of the few occasions over the last three years in which all staffers taking part scored points. In fact, things have gotten really interesting with a three way tie for 2nd between Andrew, Paul and Tony. Having spent most of the first five rounds in first and second places, Laura and Andrew went scoreless for the last four races before both finally picking up points again over the weekend. Todd and Dave are creeping up from the back, shrinking that gap from the backmarkers to the midfield, which really includes 2nd through 9th now. All in all, Hungary was a pretty good race for everyone…everyone except Grace. For Grace, the Hungarian GP may have just been the 2013 F1B Staff Championship title clincher!
