I suppose I spoke too soon about Grosjean being First Out. Well, at least we can all take comfort in the fact that it wasn’t his fault this time. I mean, it’s not like he crashed into Maldonado or anything! But to the serious business of the F1B Staff Spanish Grand Prix results! As mentioned in the picks ‘pre-show’ from last week, seven of eight staffers picked Alonso for the win and, ‘miraculously’, the Spaniard ran away with it on home soil, giving a minimum of nine points to everyone but Todd, who appears to be doing his best to impersonate the Merceds team once the green flag drops. Three of us walked away with correct picks for the top two steps of the podium, while Chris was this week’s big winner, having correctly chosen Alonso, Raikkonen and Vettel’s actual finishing positions.
The eighteen points he accumulated this weekend helped him jump from 10th to 6th in the staff standings. Other than this jump, everyone else stayed in the same order, though the battle for first is now a much tighter seven point fight between the top three. Though Andrew was able to pick up points for Fred’s win, Laura and Grace, in 2nd and 3rd respectively, each also correctly chose Raikkonen for 2nd, closing the gap to the front. Now it’s off to the mean streets of Monaco, where anything can happen…and usually does.
