F1B Staff Picks: USGP

One thing immediately struck me when putting together the F1B Staff Picks for this coming weekend’s U.S. Grand Prix in Austin and that is the fact that Grace, leading in the championship by a rather comfortable margin, but still not completely out of reach, has chosen last year’s winner, Lewis Hamilton, to once again take the win. Is she neither resting on her own laurels NOR Vettel’s? A millionth (or whatever) straight win by the German could throw the whole shebang into disarray, as current 2nd place staffer Tony has indeed gone with the newly crowned World Champion.

While Chris is also siding with Grace by taking LewHam for the victory, Todd, Laura, Andrew Dave and Victoria are following Tony down the safe, if not boring, road more travelled. This week’s lone ranger is Paul, who foresees Romain Grosjean getting his first win. Haikki Kokoloven (as our Grace likes to call him) makes his return to a race seat via the Kimster’s bad back, giving Paul a chance to place the replacement Finn in the points with a solid 4th, while Andrew goes the opposite direction and picks Kovi as First Out. Most of the usual players make up the other FO contenders, with the poor, defenseless Paul di Resta getting two nods. What did that guy ever do to anyone? I mean, it’s not like he’s Pastor Maldonado or something!
