It won’t be long and Formula One will be back, and in the last seven days, the 2014 season has begun to get underway as the teams have started to reveal their new challengers. Also this week, fans named the new Ferrari, and Eric Boullier quit Lotus… There’s a lot to discuss on tomorrow’s #F1Chat, so here’s what’s coming up…
Let’s begin with the launches. Force India were the first to reveal their new look, Williams launched in F1 Racing magazine, Lotus launched straight after McLaren – the two with very different interpretations of the new regulations – and Ferrari and Sauber followed. So out of the launches so far, which is your favourite? Any thoughts on the designs – yes we’re talking noses here…!?
The most talked about launches happened on Friday, following Lotus’ announcement of the immediate departure of Eric Boullier – with rumours that he is off to McLaren, when the Woking-based team launched the MP4-29, Lotus immediately followed with the launch of the E22 on Twitter. What did you make of all of this – firstly the news that Boullier has left Lotus? Thoughts on him being the favourite to replace Martin Whitmarsh at McLaren? What about the way in which Lotus launched the E22? Were you surprised they used Twitter to launch their car straight after McLaren launched the MP4-29 online? It was all very timely…
McLaren launched without a title sponsor – what are your thoughts on this? Is this a sign of things to come in F1?
Ferrari revealed the name of their car on Friday ahead of Saturday’s car launch – their 2014 challenger’s name was chosen by their fans – F14T – what do you think about this choice? What did you think of the car?
Winter testing begins on Tuesday, with more launches to come ahead of the Jerez test – do you have any thoughts or predictions ahead of testing? This year we’re heading into an unknown that is unlike previous seasons, with the changes to the regulations, but what do you think we can expect to see?
The FIA announced on Thursday that there are plans to ban tyre warmers from 2015. What do you think of this?
