This weekend saw the return of the Austrian Grand Prix, where Felipe Massa was on pole, and Nico Rosberg extended his championship lead over Lewis Hamilton following another Mercedes 1-2. Here’s what’s coming up on tomorrow’s #F1Chat…
First of all, what did you think of the race and it’s return to the calendar? Are you a fan of the Austrian Grand Prix?
Williams locked out the front row, with Felipe Massa on pole and Valterri Bottas second. What did you think of their race weekend? While Massa was denied the race win or a podium by the Mercedes boys, Bottas secured his first podium – thoughts on his race? Rosberg won his third race of the season and extended his lead in the championship – thoughts on his race? Lewis Hamilton failed to set a time in Q3 on Saturday and started P9, but despite the setback was up to 4th by the end of the first lap – thoughts on his first lap and his race overall? What about the slow pitstops?
After a double podium, including a win for Daniel Ricciardo last time out in Canada, Red Bull had a disappointing race as Sebastian Vettel suffered a loss of power in the opening laps of the race, and eventually retired, and Ricciardo only managed 8th. Thoughts on their weekend? Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said after the race that Renault’s current form is unacceptable – thoughts?
New guidelines on penalties for collisions meant Vettel escaped a penalty for an incident with Esteban Gutierrez. Teams have complained in the last week that drivers are too scared to make moves due to the risk of a penalty in the event of a collision, and the F1 Commission has requested that only in accidents where the blame can clearly be placed on one driver should penalties be handed out. Thoughts on these new guidelines?
