Indycar has issued an update on the driver of Dale Coyne Racing’s #18 Honda Sebastien Bourdais current medical condition.
INDIANAPOLIS (Saturday, May 20, 2017) Verizon IndyCar Series driver Sebastien Bourdais was diagnosed with multiple fractures to his pelvis and a fracture to his right hip following an incident today while attempting to qualify for the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
I would say that his chances of racing this year have just flown out the window. :(
That was one serious accident and impact with the wall. A testament to all the safety advances made over the years. That wreck could have been so much worse if the “soft wall” hadn’t been there. Like Paul posted, I fear his chances of racing this year may be over. Such a shame . . . he was having an awesome start to the year. What he and Dale Coyne have done with such a small team and budge is remarkable. My thoughts certainly go out to him and his team.
That was a very abrupt shunt, the force must have been incredible.
I’ve never heard the Speedway so silent as it was immediately afterwards.
