In this past week off after the end of the European season, there was not much more news in F1 as teams prepared to fly off to Asia. This weekend, competition is under the lights of Singapore.

Raikkonen Officially a Ferrari Driver from 2014
After the classy move of allowing Felipe Massa to announce his own departure from the team that he had served with such dedication since the Michael Schumacher years, Ferrari announced the Italian team’s first double world champion lineup since the 1960s. Kimi Raikkonen will return to Ferrari, with a contract for 2014 and an option to renew for 2015.

Ferrari and Lotus Switch Team Personnel
Adding to the ever-growing former Lotus line-up at Ferrari, the Italian team wooed aerodynamicist Dirk de Beer to Maranello.

Lotus returned the favor, sneaking aerodynamicist Nicolas Hennel back from Ferrari. He had previously worked at Lotus, when it had been the Renault team, with a stop at McLaren along the way.

Massa Indicates Alonso Is Awesome
In an interview after his release from Ferrari, Felipe Massa indicated that he rates current Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso higher than former Ferrari teammate Michael Schumacher. Massa said, “Schumacher was very, very good. He was amazing and a very complete driver as well. But I think maybe Alonso is even more perfect.”
